I've just never seen them with the outer sleeve like this. I've looked all over the Internet and the 99s cases look like cases still made today. The only other cases I saw like this was experimental from 1997. But they were all vegetarian meals. Those are accuall on ebay right now for sale.

I remember getting these cases around this time frame 1999-2001. They only used this type of case for the tan MRE's for a few years. The cases were later redesigned to eliminate the paper waste from the outer sleeve. Then they went through a few different types of inner cardboard "sleeves"....

Oh ok so there's probably nothing special about them at all then. I have looked all over the Internet for pictures of these cases but the 99s I found didn't have the outer sleeve. I'm going to open them soon. Just to see what's inside.
