Correct me if I'm wrong, but US army as I know does not even have the 24hr ones?
First Strike Rations are.
Oh, I see. Did not know that. I guess the FSR's were introduced not that long ago?

Donald cheek did a post about them a few years ago when they first came out ,
They were designed as vehicle borne patrol rations ,the troops got a breakfast ,in camp at a mess hall ,
Went out on ops and used the 12 hour ,then got an evening meal on return ,
I think the ration carries 2000 cals ,but in civilian use a breakfast would be all you need and you have a good 24 hour food source ,I haven't tried them ,but every thing you get in a 24 hour you get in the 12 hour just a wee bit less,

FREMONT wrote:I've heard of the 12 hour rations but I don't know why they would be put into service. Wouldn't a 24 ration suffice? unless you were in a combat scenario I don't see a reason to make these for troops. However I think 12 hour rations are on the civilian market.
Its all about money to be honest. They were giving 24hr ORPs out for single meals and it was costing too much so this was the solution.

housil - Realize this is an older thread... my question, which UK 12 Hour Ration has the PAELLA?.. I have searched the internet with no results (of course, I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed).
Basically, would like to know, what countries offer PAELLA? NOT THE US
mahalo

I've never seen any paella in any of the UK ORP menus i have come across. I can get my hands on some 12 hour meals but my guess is if it's NOT in the ORPs it isn't in the 12 hour raitons.
