My first MRE entree, mid 90's I think, a buddy of mine in the USAF brought one back from his deployment, more of a food dare at the time but I didn't mind it at all.

When they made it on the ship, everyone called it "chicken Ala Barf", but I liked it!

Awesome review Norton, very bold and descriptive!

That Fruitcake looked delicious! I would have loved to try that. Its literally almost a guarantee that most of the cakes in the older menus are spoiled, as Steve1989 said its usually from the nuts going off or in my experience in the slightly newer brown bag MREs its caused by the oxygen absorber which tends to give the cake a metallic/film taste in your mouth.

The cheese definitely looks and sounds delicious  you are brave for trying it, i would have loved to give it a shot. The older cheese spreads always seem to have a used gym sock type of smell and similar taste haha.

The entree looked pretty appetizing, lol it cant be THAT bad as everyone makes it out to be. I need to get my hands on one for review, I'll eat my words, im sure

Once again, great job on this review Norton.
