Just as its acronym says, it is a Training Meal. People in classrooms, at the rifle range, or otherwise not in the field but also not near a fixed chow hall can have a reduced-content meal with a TOTM.

I buy a lot of them because I don't need the full caloric load of a regular MRE when I'm out fishing. But a TOTM allows me to have a snack, a drink, and a "hot" dish that's easy to prepare on the spot.

no its cool i get it. big army gives them out for anything rifle ranges whatever i wonder why they wouldnt use these to save money i was just unfamiliar with it.
