talked to a doc about bad food and he sad: as long as it dont taste
bad or smell horrible (sharp taste like chemicals) and it should
still be ok.just inspect wrapping and seals and look for wet ereas
on the items,also dry items gone hard or wet are no good.
im still eating frome a 1995 mre case and havent found any
bad food norge.

Just finished a Chicken and salsa 2001 vintage, everything was great except the m&m's they were a powder and intact ones were brittle and broke up.

Does the MRE candy have anything to preserve it? or are they just off the shelf ones?

That's kind of strange about those M&Ms. MRE candy usually holds up pretty good unless it has been exposed to a lot of heat. Maybe that's what happened to your candy.
