Last year in when we had several tornadoes hitting our area in Oklahoma I got several cases from churches and aid given to the victims of the tornadoes.
It replenished my stocks with MRE's vintage 2010-11 and several cases of civilian Heater Meals.

CR1m's have been rare and expensive here for awhile. Recently came across an ad on Gumtree, here in Oz for three CR1M's, and inquired about the price.

Two days later I received an email from the seller telling me that the police had confiscated them and informed him that they were not for sale to the public

wow they aren't kidding, all that for 3 meals!

(i forget, do the rations say no sale on the label like USA ones do?)

Stopped in to a local surplus store today for some camping gear, and noticed that they're selling MREs for $10 apeice or $99/case. Yowza, guess I'll keep to eBay for the time being. They also had some of the tray meals, but I didn't think to look at the price of those.

Wasn´t there a similar happen at ebay US with MREs?

About the only thing I remember about MRE restrictions, other than the commonsense, idiot-proof warnings on the old brown pouch ones "not for in-flight/pre-flight use" was that U.S. troops were prohibited from selling them to civilians on or off base. They could give them to anyone they wanted so long as no money changed hands. I'm wondering if there is a similar restriction for Australian rations.

Sorry for the confusion Yowie, what I meant was I'm wondering if the ebay seller could have been a member of the Australian Defense Forces and if they have a similar prohibition as U.S. troops selling MREs.

I recall the first series of brown pouch MREs had a warning on the outer pouch "not for in-flight/pre-flight use. Although I have looked at some brown pouch ones at my local army-navy store, I cannot find the warning on them. Now that I think of it though, the warning may have been just on the dehydrated beef patty and other similar stuff, i.e. MREs which included the dehydrated fruit.
