I like french rations (Who doesn`t?) but if there is something I like in french rations it`s the paté and the cheese. General De Gaulle asked once "How is it possible to run a country that has 246 different types of cheese?" and well.... I don`t know if France has so many different types of cheese but I acknowledge that if there is something french are good at doing it`s the cheese.

I lived in France many, many years ago and it`s just amazing how many different types of cheese they have. Obviously the cheese they have in the RCIR is magnificent, it does not only taste like cheese but it also smells like cheese and this is something that for me it`s really important.

All the best, people.

Luis

Anyone know where you can buy an RCIR that isn't eBay? They look pretty tasty!

Just a little update on the french cheese front....we recently had an RCIR Menu No 3 from 2012 (entrees are Poultry Tabouleh and Beef with Carrots) and it had a Fromage de Chevre Fondu (goat cheese spread) in it. Sadly no pictures as we took it out on a trip and munched it before I'd realised it was special!

The tin was white with green and red drawings on it...and the cheese spread was paler than the regular kind. It had a good creamy "goat cheese" taste. Not too strong but very discernably goat cheese. I really hope to see it again!

I had one of those last week when munching my way through an RCIR. I didn't know it was goats cheese, just thought it was the regular cheese spread 8) It was really tasty too.
