I can tell you from personal experience the the mre's handed out were the german epa's. I live an hour north of the MS coast. I have a cousin in Pascagoula whose husband is in the coast guard. She found out a couple of month's after Katrina that I love mre's so she sent me a whole case of type 3 epa's. They were not only interesting to have, but they also tasted great. They were packaged in 2003. I still have a couple left that i'm holding onto. If anyone wants info on them just post a reply and I will be glad to oblige.

UK Ministry Of Defence are taking the rap for this due to not bothering to read US FDA regs on meat products....But it's good news they aren't going to waste, I guess.....
