You haven't even across one that made you stop and think "Am I really that hungry?"?

Ok then - how about a *part* of an MRE that you didn't like - maybe not an entree - could be a side or dessert.

Don't make me start mixing MREs together to come up with something you wouldn't eat...like an Omelet and Sloppy Joe! :-)

8) Don't get me wrong, yall. It all depends on how hungry one is at any given time. I'd lick turnip soup off the Earth and lick water from a mud hole if I was hungry enough. I'd prefer the worst MRE of all time to that. Worst MRE of all time? Probably Alfredo.

best....and worst

Best:
*Tried a nice fresh MRE Pot Roast recently....very good! Perhaps even better than my previous pet favorite ORP (Brit) Beef Stew.
*Chicken Tetrazzini - LOTS of meat!
*Really like the ORP (Brit) Turkey Pate in the little tins. More filling than it looks too! Can really recommend Brit ORP 24-hour ration packs!
*Spiced apples....eaten with shortbread from a HDR, and with a little imagination tastes like apple pie.
*Canadian IMP peaches are really good!
*HDR (Humanitarian Daily Ration) peanut butter, toaster pastry, fig bars etc all tasted BRAND NEW even though my case was dated 02/03. Impressive! Although I doubt many would appreciate the taste of the entrees, geared for the mideastern palate.
*MRE Beef Teriyaki still one of my favorites - it was the first MRE I ever bought, and was impressed by "Beef" being the first ingredient, instead of water, soy, whatever. This is how I got to collecting more MRE's, then more....

Worst:
*Canadian IMP "Shepherd's Pie" was not stew covered with mashed potatos as I thought it would be, but rather meat and little potato cubes, and the taste was what I imagine dog food would be like; actually I have smelled a lot of dog food that smelled better. No the IMP entree was not spoiled or anything, just a bad beef taste, nothing like the new MRE Pot Roast. I can't recommend any of the Canadian beef entrees; I think the chicken varieties taste better.
*Pasta and Alfredo sauce. I'm sure most will agree from what I've read already.
*Jambalaya - just don't care for shrimp I guess.
*Canadian wet-pack cherries was a tasteless disappointment, after the tasty "Stawberry-rhubarb compote"
*One more - Canadian drink mixes! Especially 'pear'

Well there are some items to watch out for anyway.
Thanks very much for the site (where I saw MRE menu for the first time, so I could decide on what ebay items to bid on for survival supply) and the forum,
Rational, still alive and well after eating a 1996 pate, and of course the 1980 (or older?) nut roll and yummy cocoa!

Hey.. I love the IMP Watermelon drink, that stuff is like Jolly Rancher juice, beats the MRE drinks.. Not that they're all that bad. If you didn't like the Shepherd's Pie, you'll hate the IMP Breakfast Sausage and Hashbrowns.. it's pieces of scary sausage tasting meat (not breakfast sausage either) and potato chunks. Plus it's greaaaasssy. Bleh. And the little bag of cereal they give you in there had gone bad.. nothing better than spoiled dehydrated milk..

I've tried so far the following..
Chicken Cavetelli
Beef Roast with vegies
Cheese Tortellini with tomato sauce
They were all good.

Thanks for the heads-up Big Mark - and you know, I just tried another IMP drink mix and really liked this one - so I can recommend the Orange-Pineapple definately. Had it with my all-time favorite IMP "Bread" and peanut butter packs, great.
