Hi BB -
Could be. Wouldn't be the first time, I'm sure!
I'm just wondering if they "intended" to release the pineapple as a future item so they listed it anyway. Possibly to test its acceptance before production began? Like the cookies. I ate a ton of those Dehydrated Pork Patties and never once encountered cookies let alone the pineapple.
I remember the cookies packed in the older MCI's and in the current MRE's. But throughout the 80's - not that it never happened - I never ate an MRE with cookies or pineapple included. The only "wet" fruit I remember is the Applesauce and the dehydrated fruit cocktail which I liked better dry as the flavor to me was more concentrated.
So, it could be a mis-print. Could have been listed but intended for future procurement, possibly due to production problems.
Tim, you do not remember the awesome COOKIES, CHOCOLATE COVERED

! They were great! See here:

DOH!
I'm sorry Hagen. I was thinking of the more modern cookies in the current MRE's.
I remember these and you are right, they are AWESOME!

I remember the square ones and never could figure out why some "genius" decided to stop including them in the meals later on. I don't clearly remember the round cookies but that is not to say I never had them. But I definitely remember the square chocolate-covered cookies.
We were still calling them "John Wayne bars", "John Wayne cookies", and "gorilla cookies" because you had to be as tough as the "Duke" or a gorilla to chew it sometimes....
Thank for the reminder!

Here are two close ups of the brown (the very early ones were grey/olive, but those I do not have in my collection) wrapper of the round COOKIES, CHOCOLATE COVERED, packed by STERLING BAKERY
