I would very much like to try one or two of the Russian rations, just not sure how to get them here to PA in one piece.

I still think they don't have such bad rations. They probably have chinese made rations or items. And yes, they are probably crappy.. but we cant judge
Hi Cracker,

You are right.

I was only trying to bring a little humor to the conversation as many have already done previously. Clearly I failed. :( For that I am sorry.

Or am I?.... http://www.eutimes.net/2011/02/north-ko ... nsumption/

Listen there is no way on this green earth, in this lifetime or the next we will get a North Korean ration. No way customs in the EU is gonna let someone send you a live pig!

If you get a chance check out some of the youtube footage about North Korean atrocities and Im not talking about during the War either. The cities are practically a spitting image of the city scenes in the Avengers. Ghost towns. The public executions. That place is about as bass ackwards as any society on this planet and we're in the 21st Century!

The leadership and the military get everything. The civilian populace is ordered to 'produce' or else. Its literally George Orwells 1984 over there. Im sure the propaganda department has no trouble getting huge bowls of fresh-looking food put on the table for the 'exulted one' to look over and give a nod of approval before returning to his 'digs' to feast on the rarest cognacs, lobster, and who knows what else? But once he's gone and the cameras are put away that food probably goes right back into storage or repackaged and sold abroad. All I saw was a photo of a table full of food. I didn't see a mess facility with tables full of NKPA troops sitting there shovelling it in like theres no tomorrow.

Under that form of government people are expendable and when you are one of the poorest economic powers on the planet with one of the largest standing armies, with rising food prices, rations aren't getting bigger. I think its safe to say South Korean and US logistics facilities stocking food are definitely gonna be high on the list of 'capture' sites if the NK's ever decide to jump ugly.

As for a pre-packaged 'combat' ration I don't know. As stated they might have a basic Chinese-produced ration that incorporates Korean favorites in place of Chinese. Perhaps they've stocked millions of them over the decades in secret bunkers and just want us to think every NKPA soldier is gonna be making a run for the border with a salad shooter in his mess kit. Perhaps they will buy more animal feed as a cheaper alternative to further try and refine into something more edible? Perhaps the animal feed was another propaganda ploy to convince they are in more dire straights then they really are. Who knows? Perhaps they have us all fooled. As for what's in them I would say consider the source. If the NKPA is being trusted to actually tell us what's in their meals I want it confirmed by at least two other sources with not ties to North Korea.

Sorry if I ruffle a feather Cracker....

I had one of those Korean MRE's (greyish foil type pack) I got it from a friend at Yongsan. It did not taste too good to me either. But food is a cultural taste you know. That one is probably the worst tasting one I have had. Some other things I dislike are Vegimite in Aussie rations and the Treacle pudding in the British MRE's, the old MRE Tray Ration Chocolate Pudding (Evil!) and the Canadian IMP bread.
