yep, some 17 years ago my wife who was still smoking bought a full bag of those Russian cigarettes in Ukraine. She never could smoke them and nobody could either, not even the old bum who was living near the house and used to pick up cigarette butts in the street to smoke. He answered "and what do you want me to do with that crap?"

Speaking of cigars and cigarettes, unless I'm mistaken the United States was the only nation to issue cigarettes as a standard ration component in the WW2 rations and in the Vietnam era MCIs.

Rt there was 2 tins of 50 cigarettes in the WW2 British 14 in 1 compo. That worked out to the UK 7 a day standard army smokes ration.
The Canadian mess tin ration had 10 cigs included too.
