when Browning was asked why he never designed on another pump shotgun after designing the ithica model 37 (it was called something different back then) Browning responded that the pump shotgun had reached its zenith with that design

So, I make a poll? A good 500 with pistol grip kit and 18.5" barrel I think will be enough for both hunting and self defence... :D

I have two model 500's one with the pistol grip I seem to favor, its easy to get in and out of vehicle with quickly and I feel well armed with both.. I have never had one of the mavericks, so I can not coment but Mossberg 500, Ithica 37 , rem 870, mod 12, there is alot out there and I am sure any of the better known ones will do fine.

I'd like to have a Security Combo, with pistol grip and 18.5" barrel. I think it will cover all my needs, for home/self defense and some hunting (wild boar, rabbit and some woodland pheasants). With buckshot and some light load, it's pretty covered.

Thank you for all your answers.
