Dont worry to eat them, only make the normal check, which everyone makes who eats army rations.

Housil and me eat them frequently, because we rotate older ones to newer.

in my basement they are very cold stored, because it was used in former times for vine.

sometimes when i want to eat something very special, i open a brown bag

i can second that!,eating mres are not dangerus,just do the smel,bulge,taste,look,no forgett the look thing
mres look weird if you have never seen/ate them

i do also eat old style mres and have never gott sick
gues thats some viking thing that we norwegians and germans have and since you
are from finland/soumi should be okay to(iron stomac )

oh btw is the peanut butter safe to eat ? it seems intact but i figured that since its so, um.. solid stuff it might have gone bad ^^

my mres seem to be from year 2001, atleast, the heater is 2001

knead the package good,so it goes soft.
should be good,have never had bad peanutt butter from the new
mres(tan bag) only a few bad in the old 1980s brown bags.

the peanut butter is one of the things, which i had never in bad condition the last 10 years.

you have to knead it, befor you open it.

keep enough milk within range when you eat them together with the crackers.

btw i eat at present old brown crackers, think they are better than the newer ones.
