New British 24-hour ration pack
Re: New British 24-hour ration pack
Thanks for clearing that up, Baldy! That's some good info on the range cards.

Two older versions of the Australian plastic range card:

Re: New British 24-hour ration pack
sorry to say but thats not rigth about the british
target on the box.
it migth be used as a range card, but when ariving to a new
clima/temerature in a other part of the world you
have to zero your rifle.
i have learned this when i used to be a leason for the
royal marines here in norway.

Then why does it say 'range card', 'method of determining range', 'made out by' etc?norge wrote:sorry to say but thats not rigth about the british

Re: New British 24-hour ration pack
Hi Baldy,
I've never seen that kind of cards in the French Army but what you describe is very similar to our "ZMSPCP" command:
zone, mission, secteur, point particulier, conduite à tenir, place du chef. (Zone, Mission, Sector (eg. left & right limits), Particular points( dead zones, allies, etc.), Behavior (fire opening, etc.), Location of the leader).

Re: New British 24-hour ration pack
I know what those things mean. I was asking a rhetorical question: why would such words be printed on the box if it wasn't intended as a range card?norge wrote:method of determining range=laser range finder, tape mesure.

I believe you - I originally wrote: 'I'm not saying they've never been used as [targets]'. I'm just saying the side of the ration box was originally intended as a range card, no matter what other uses have been found for it. Let's just drop it, OK?norge wrote:when training with the royal marines i have never ever seen
