I like the Flecktarn pattern, I found flecktarn works quite well where I live. In the summer/autumn the grass and plants on the mountains dies and the flecktarn colours are more common.
I like to use German desert for snow free winter area over here:
But desert BDU´s are not designed to keep you warm. Brrrrrr.....

If not I simply collect the caps...

Sometimes there are bigger ones (up to size 16 available). If it will fit Rudi (jubifahrer), it should fit to you too.
Should we keep an eye on it over here for you?
See this:
Bundeswehr BW Parka Feldjacke flecktarn Gr. 16 = 56/58 (=XXL/3XL)

Is there a Desert Parka available? That with the normal liner should be just as warm
I've read desert flecktarn its called Tropentarn is that right?
I bought a Swiss Alpenflage jacket at a surplus store a while back

Have you seen that?

its very strange I cannot see it working that well.
Housil is great with finding things, I think he soruced most of my East German impression from ebay.de.

Need one in 8?

Nope.
We have 5 color:
3 color

(called "desert")
That´s a Tropen:

Seem´s ordinary to you?
You will see the difference if you compare it with a regular one next to it:

left Tropen, right regular
See my Feldbluse

the main difference with a Tropen is the other fabric! Also no front zipper, just buttons. Netting at the arm pits to increase ventilation, insect protection

I did lot´s of motobike tours throu the alp mountains and saw all their armies (Austria, Swiss, Italy).
Austria is still wearing OD.
Swiss army camouflage seems "funny" to us with it´s red spotts
But they will blend in a flowered mountain meadow
Swiss:
Pattern called TAZ57

introduced in 1957-1993 (heritage of Germanys SS-Leibertarn pattern

)
TAZ90

1993 untill today.
Colors now in NATO-standart, but not available out of Swiss.
It´s a crime (!) at Switzerland to bring a TAZ90 out of country

OT:
See our current winter pattern:
I would like it, if they take that one:
3 color winter Flecktarn

Ach so! The colours are lighter more green and the design is different, a quick search of my trusty German dictionary... Tropen = Warm Tropical/Jugle area near the Equator.
I searched google.co.uk on images using 'tropentarn' and only the 3 colour desert was found. It would appear that the name tropentarn is being mistaken for the desert type.
If you do find a size 8 that would be great Housil, Desert flecktarn is not that common on British ebay. If you find just the outter part that would be great..
If you would like any British gear, just ask.
That winter flecktarn looks good, unusual. I like it
