Hi,

the BW uses both versions, green and orange. My english is not good enough to translate the descriptions of both to english, but the orange one is mostly made of carbohydrates. It looks and tastes like compressed sugar with "rice-crispies" in it. Its made for low-water-supply situations.

The green one is this compressed bread/cake/whatever that can be used to make this porridge.

If you are interested, i can take some pictures of both.
BTW: Theres is a third variant. Its an liquid with carbo, minerals and "all you need" dissolved. Can be used even with gasmask on. AWFULL! Dont try to drink this unless your starving.

Hi svenj - welcome to the forums! Thanks for extra info on the German rations. If you could take any pictures, we would love to see them.

MR-8 - that's exactly what i mean.

The survival ration of the Bundeswehr comes in an orange package, but it's the same stuff inside.

No, thats not right, the green one and the orange one are not equal.

The orange ones are a little easier, and so they have less kalories.
