Bring a Snugpak Rocketpak. Detachable side pouches, built like a tank and the best fuckin' backpanel and straps I ever found. It's worh it's weight (2 kilos/5 pounds) in gold. Trust me.

FDSman,

Hey I would agree with bishopmarine, if your trying to get a good sturdy backpack then a large ALICE pack will suffice. Get a official one with a kidney strap, frame and shoulder straps. All in all that should not be over $50.00 for a used one. I have mine that I have had since 1994 and over the years I have "tricked" it out to a varying degree.

My upgrades I had done at a place called www.tacticaltailor.com in Tacoma, WA. They specialize in ruckmods for not a whole lot of money. The owners are former Army grunts that turned an idea into reality. When I first got my large ALICE pack the shoulder straps and kidnet belt were the first to wear out and it was very uncomfortable until I upgraded. Now it's more user friendly. Tactical Tailor has some other cool daypacks that might be worth a look and equipment.

Get the large alice pack with a frame. You can carry everything but the kitchen sink in it. Heres a pic getting ready for bear season, and the ruck is only half full. Now where did I put that case of mre's to strap on the back???

Yes, I'm going to build one myself using some parts I'm going to order, I'm going to combine ALICE and MOLLE parts to make a sort of hybrid. Call it an ALOLLE pack if you must.

I'm customizing a MOLLE II patrol backpack with some pouches..... 2 sustainment pouches , 1 canteen pouch ( old school...no camelback bladders!) to hold the british crusader system and a butt pack.

By any chance somebody here has a extra back foam pad /stiffener for it??? I'm looking for one.

I've got access to one out of three really extensive army and navy surplus stores, that actually sells everything from WWII surplus, to current surplus, they have used and new Alice packs, so I might have to take a look at that.

I went to the tacticaltailor site and they have some tweaked out ALICE packs with MOLLE features....they call them MALICE packs

I would like to see pics of your "FRANKENPACK" when is done.....

I'm still working on my MOLLE....just got the backpack now waiting for my pouches.....
Do you think a crusader canteen kit would fit in a US MOLLE canteen pouch???
