Oh, the subject
I think the Army is working on standardizing the H&K 416. I have'nt looked into it lately. If well maintained, the 16 series is indeed sweet. The Israelis dissed their own Galil's in favor of us darned Americans' M-16 series. Oh, in basic/AIT, my M16A1 was mfg'ed by Harrington and Richardson. Worn out peice of junk, but I still shot EXPERT. One of 6 in my training Company(C-3-1) Sand Hill.

Dangerous Dave:
Good Answer. I like the way you think.

The MILES gear never worked.

Yeah,

Come to think of it, most of the Israeli army either has some sort of M-16 variant in it's inventory; not to mention the SAW series, M2, M240, and several Remington sniper rifles. Last time I saw several sniper photos from their Army it was either the old M14's/M21 or a heavy barrel A2 configured competition style with a scope. I guess they figure if it's good enough for us to use it in combat then it could stand up to anything.

I'm not so sure about that adage. :?

Discard the worthless M16/M4, take an AK!

Now come on ak70g2! Properly trained, an M-4 operator can hit an enemy between the shirt-pockets at 300+ meters with the iron sights. Higly unlikely with an AK 7.62X39. True, the AK tends to be more dependable soaked in mud, but still, proper maintenance for the M4/M16 series is key. Ballistic-wise, the AK is better at close-in 50-150 meter combat only, sort of like the US M1 Carbine. :)

I don't give a fart. Is an assault rifle, and I want it to work. For precision, I'll take a sniper rifle.

kind of hard to carry a sniper rifle and assault rifle in combat. i will lay down from 350 yards and put one right on target before anyone knows im there. take out a few people. the ones in my squad doing the same before moving in closer. by the time we are at useful range of the ak most of the fighting is over.

Thats cool, AK, you must be sniper trained. I was just talking about the generality between the M-4/M16 series and the AK-47 series typical Infantryman weapons. No problem here. Keep up the good work, NATO pal.
