I recently had a really odd transaction with an Ebay-seller who goes by the name 'downcitylive'.

He advertised two 01/08 MRE cases, which i both won. Everything seemed to go all good. I payed him, he received it, even gave me a Track&Trace link for my package. And sure enough two MRE-cases arrived in a reasonable amount of time. Two perfectly preserved cases i must say.

So i thought everything was fine. Until i saw the inspection date on the case. Both were 03/07 instead of 01/08. It's not THE worst thing that could've happened, but it wasnt 01/08 which he clearly put on the bidding page.

I asked him about it, saying he better have some very good reason. He didnt reply, and still has not. Even though questions i had before the purchase he replied pretty fast.

I saw two 01/08 MRE cases offered by him a while ago again on Ebay. Exactly the same description and all.

I ended up giving him two Neutral feedbacks. As a reason i said he advertised the wrong inspection date. But the MRE's are fine really. The cases were in perfect condition, so were its contents.
( http://myworld.ebay.nl/downcitylive , scroll down, and see what Bl00k said ;), and after that, click on the bidding page next to it )

So for you European ebayers; maybe ask downcitylive clearly before you purchase if the case really says '01/08'. He doesnt seem to be a bad guy who's out to fool you. But i do find it odd.

I wouldn´t trust him.
He write´s in his description:
"...I (suddenly) don´t send in (the) genuine case, you will receive them in a neutral card bord box as a printing on the case says "Comercial resale is unlawfull..."

Means you will never see the packing date nor the TTI! If he sent you older MRE´s than offered, he changes the box now that nobody can figure out the real age of the MREs from outside.

Also his description is full of mistakes, he wasn´t even smart enough to copy:

Inhald instead of Inhalt
Beefsteag instead of beefsteak
Spagetti instead of Spaghetti
Bonbongs instead of bonbon

I´m sorry that he is a German also and caused you some problems...

Anybody ever bought anything from ebay-user 'moby-dick.sonderposten'?

He sells tins of bread and emergency pouches of water. I bought those two items from him about two months ago, he didnt reply at all, so i just left it there. But now i see him offering the same products again, so i buy them again (Buy Now), and now about a week after i did that he still hasn't contacted me even though i sent him messages.

What's up with this guy?!?! I want my Brot & Wasser 8)

One of his auctions:
http://cgi.ebay.nl/30-X-500-Gr-Dosenbro ... dZViewItem

oh and for the record: I havent payed him anything, i have to know the shipping costs but since he doesn't seem to be alive i can't know how much to pay.

Hey blOOk ---- In America we have a saying:

Fool me once, shame on you; Fool me twice, shame on me.

I'd walk away from this guy and count your blessings!

See his feedbacks:
http://feedback.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dl ... 20aufrufen

He got 10 neutral and 5 negativ the last 12 month, also just a 3,7 for delivering time.

Leave him a negative feedback, complain at ebay and ask someone else for Dosenbrot.
See e.g. this seller:
http://cgi.ebay.de/BW-Dosenbrot-EPa-Bes ... p1638.m118

He doesn´t sell the 500g cans, just the smaller 170g resealable (!) from the EPas, but I guess he is more reliable.

See his regular (non ebay) online store:
http://feddeck-dauerwaren.de/shop/catal ... hop_param=
Feddeck is a reliable dealer and will also send internation via DHL:
http://feddeck-dauerwaren.de/shop/page/ ... hop_param=
5kg to NL €17, up to 10 kg €22

Stef wrote:Hi all,
Kowalski, on my side I'm always terrified by the shipping fees on eBay-UK (specially to the continent)!
There's a lot of interesting auctions beyond the Channel but paying 20£ S&H for a 6 quid box is not a very exciting option...

I LOVE BEANS but I always hesitate when I see a cheap British ration …and then the shipping charges to Brittany… :?
Hi Stef,
Sorry for the delayed reply, wasnt being ignorant.
I can appreciate the high shipping charges, i get stung on them all the time. Looks like most of us are stuck eating rats from the country we reside in. Oh joy that means more scabby UK desserts for me then :?
Brittany? thats northern france eh? Lucky sod that means lovely rcir'S for you then and the much sought after nougat (well sought after by me anyway).

Does anyone know how Dutch rats are supplied? Ive only ever seen the breakfast/lunch box and then the cans, is how a days chow is thrown to the troops? or am i missing something?

I also only know the boxes and cans or bags:

Maybe they quit fighting at 17:00 (5pm) and don´t need any dinner?!

:) :D , No they don't quit at 17.00hrs. That would be something

The cans are main dish (dinner) for Dutch troops. Depending on the training, they can be handed out seperately. We had days like that were at the end only dinner (2 cans each) was provided.

"You didn't miss much Kowalski".
