And with enough extra preservatives, ramen can last a while too. I seen em turn up in those first gen MCWs. Man, those were the best era - still had the sweet & sour pork and beef teriyaki mains in 04'-05'. Got 2 sealed cases left for when that world ends.
It was a beef or chicken ramen and had a few green peas thrown in there.

I have a 2001 British prototype ration, it has a pack of curry ramen in it. There is very little documentation on this ration, pretty much just the menu sheet it came with, but all 5 menus came with noodles.

Do you still have that menu sheet?

There is also almost no nutritional value in the cheap versions of what they euphemistically call "ramen". You'd get an equal effect by just downing the packet of salt in your acc pack.
Perhaps true, but I don't care... If I was in a cold trench somewhere, a hot dose of Ramen would do a lot for my morale

It's not really soup Ramen but I get a lot of Mie Goreng in foreign rations. Can't remember which countries now but more than one. It's Ramen without the soup, seasoned noodles. Love that stuff.

As I recall in the 1990s the Infantry guys and Rangers and snake eater types didn't care too much for MREs, at least weight wise. The loads those guys were required to carry in their rucks was insane. Trust Me. So Ramen was practically standard issue with them. No NSN, but there probably should have been. I didn't understand it then, but it makes sense. Ramen is lightweight, cheap, and has a fair amount of carbs. So 20 - 30 years later, the Army is catching up. Sounds about right.
Personally, I enjoy these noodles in various flavors and they make a nice hot comfort meal. I would not be disappointed to find this in a ration some time, somewhere out in the field.
I think its a multitude of factors, especially for the single meal rations.
#1 If wet packed they would need to be modified to not break down with being in fluid for a long time, this would also add more weight to the ration.
#2 The dry weight is low but the dry size is pretty large and they are just as crumbly if not more than MRE Crackers, so you'd end up with Broken Noodles.
I know that the Australian CR1M does (or did) contain Mi Goreng noodles, packaged much like Ramen. Steve did a review of the CR1M and the noodles can be seen at this link:
So I guess it just depends on if it can be easily worked into a ration or not.
Yeah, I got this pack out of a CR1M I bought a year ago here in Oz. Mi Goreng is delicious, but a pain in the arse to prepare... gotta drain the noodles, and it comes with five seasoning pouches...
