Also reevaluate your water.
Most kits require water to rehydrate.

Plastic bottled water kept in the dark at sensible temperatures keeps for years does it not?
I had noticed that there is an American company providing canned water that has a shelf life of 50 years, (blue can).
Is this unique to them or is this probably the standard if a manufacturer cans water?
I could also be interested in sachets of water for small volume lighter carry weight bug out bag options.
What are people's opinions/thoughts?

The only leak proof material is glass. Plastic allows "things" to travel thru. The best containers are glass bottles! As long as it´s airtight, you have an unlimited shelf life.
I use military jerry cans (20 liters) for storage, when necessary.
