I want the whole ration, but that’s ok, I’m going to go with the Arctic field rations instead.
I live in Canada, I have also already ordered with Mremountain, but once again I want the whole ration, not just the pizza.

Folks saying they don't really enjoy the pizza, it is always amusing considering it was potentially the most highly anticipated MRE item. I wonder how much of it is true disdain for the texture & flavor, and how much is simply that let-down sorta feeling. Aiming expectations high for ration food is usually a recipe for the latter.

Thank you LoriJean and Mike both for reporting in the links to sources. I get plenty of folks asking where to find that pizza. Whether it's the full menu, or just the pizza by itself.

$20-25 seems to be the going rate for menu 23 on it's own from retail MRE sellers. That is shipped. Check ebay sellers and you won't have to search very long.

You can go into restaurants and spend $20-25 on a basic dinner plus tip. You get an experience and maybe 900-1500 calories of food. Or maybe a buffet and get all you can eat (easily 1500-3k calories pile on with folks an a buffet.. depends on how hungry ya are).

You can get a menu 23 and it's 1300 calories, portable, lasts 3 years or more, and is also an experience. And no need to even leave the house if ya don't want to. Or eat it on the go. Regardless, it is also an experience.


As for me, I managed to get two of them about 11 months ago. I loved mine. In a word? Mesmerizing. Oldsmokey liked his too. We both well understand and appreciate the struggles involved with it's almost 30 years of development. In our conversation pertaining, we both concluded the same. It's an achievement that it is progressive for the advancement in shelf stable food technology. It will continue to get better. And this food tech will be applied for bigger & better things not only in rations but on the civilian market.

With that being said, I will continue to be amused by the range of comments on MRE pizza. Oh, and the soy one is pretty good. Less meaty chunks and more of a soft bacon bit sorta thing going on. It's been almost 2 years since I've had one so I am not 100% on if it's more palatable than the US-version. But it is certainly comparable.

While I don't care for the MRE pizza and literally gave all mine away, I think they would be far more tasty if you got a sauce packet in the MRE to put on them. Heating and adding the cheese to them probably helps a lot, I will have to try that trick.

That said, everything tastes better out in the field. I know I would scarf it down in a heartbeat even if I don't care for it when sitting in my living room at home. I too appreciate how much effort and wait went into producing and fulfilling the demand for it. I'm hoping it gets improved. Again, I want to try the bacon topped pizza. Everything tastes better with bacon. "Bacon - the food that makes all other food worth eating"

I think the market anticipated a far greater demand for the pizza as the prices from many sellers were high then dropped lower on the pizza and many have it on sale.

Agree, a sauce pack would be great and an extra chs spread. I bought spice packs from mrenation or epicenter and they really helped the flavor, but i think they are civilian, not official in mre.

I just thought I would let all my American friends (only), that Amazon has a couple of Mre and z-nation meals for sale. They only ship to the states.
