well its been....quite a while since i orginally posted this thread,
as luck would have it, i recently put in a order for other things from this site (sovietarmystuff.com thatis), and while browsing, decided to add a pack of the russian rations in as well, didnt add anything to teh shipping,
order placed on teh 12th, bit of a snafu with my orignal paymnet, but think got that straightened out on the next day,then i remebered i made a post here ages ago about that very site/ration,
so lets see how long it takes, then i can give these rations a try alongside the brit and american ones i have

For awhile now I thought the Ebay prices on these were pretty high, and thus out of reach. After looking at that site, and thinking that with buying a bunch of them, might make them a bit more reasonable per unit price, but no matter what, it seems that no way in hell, can anyone here in the US get these for less than $50. I was really tempted to buy about a dozen, keeping a few for my collection and to review, and sell the rest, but to 'break even', these are still gonna be pretty pricy. At least they'd come in handy for trading and this way, buying direct from the site would lessen the chance of getting nailed by a scammer on ebay.

update: recived the ration part of my order yesterday, was waiting for me when i got back from the lake, looks like they shipped the rest of my order seperate from the rationpack,

will do a taste test here in the next few...i want to say days ,but its probably "when i get teh nerve up", and if i remeber about it i'll try to have a camera ready to capture facial expressions

I don't know why but I wouldn't feel comfortable eating a Russian ration. Mainly because it isn't from a country I particularly trust and it isn't NATO approved.

That's not NATO spec, but a worldmilitary spec term for military mistery meat.. "tastes like chicken"
No, some might taste better then other, and contain better ingredients.. but Russia is very under estimated, the russian military is making a large comeback in the last few years.

All military rations are conserved, boiled etc.. so you won't get sick from them..
They also contain enough vital things like calories, minerals and vitamines..

A military is only as good as it's food.. without food, whole armies come to a stand still
It's as important as weapons, ammo, medicines, vehicles and all the other stuff..

Starved soldiers can't fight (look at Stalingrad) they DID have "enough" ammo (captured weapons)
Offcourse not ideal ammounts of ammo, but they could sustain a battle with it.. (they did not really need antitank weapons in the ruins of stalingrad > vehicles couldn't get through the ruins, it was all infantry and artillery)

Primary reasons Stalingrad fell is because they froze to death and all supplies were cut.. no food was entering stalingrad for the germans.. (it took 7 months! (of which 4 months starving because they were surrounded))

Even the Russians .. the ones that did that.. learned from it Soldiers need enough "good quality" food to fight..
The 1940s and 1950s defination of "good quality" is "stuff that doesn't cause diarrhea or kills you"..

And all military rations are therefore edible.. taste is just a luxury, but I'd trust to eat all military (conserved) rations from all nations in the world.. Yes, NATO spec might be better quality.. but that doesn't make russian rations bad







And come on.. You should have a little confidence in the people that launched the first satelite..
