My Kind of Meal Accessory Pack

Post by jfko6 »

The accessory pouch is vacuumed sealed like an MRE and within it you'll find a pleasant variety of treats from nuts, to candy, to condiments to chips and more. The toilet paper was a good addition oft not supplied in civilian MRE's. The information card included with the accessory pack is somewhat unique.
But the spoon was small and flimsy. I recommend the Titanium Spork from Tadgear.com:http://www.tadgear.com/x-treme%20gear/s ... _spork.htm The information card makes an interesting tidbit to mail to a friend. Each card is different with stories to food information. Within the accessory pouch came an extra salt and pepper (pictured).

Lamb & Barley Stew from J&M

Post by jfko6 »

I tried the Lamb and Barley Stew entree. Attached is Nutrition Facts scanned from the package. The first thing I noticed is the difference in the texture of the retort pouch. The amount of food seemed more and the weight seemed heavier. Though this is not a scientific analysis I took a comparable entree similar in weight to J&M's from a civilian MRE.

Item -- Cheese Omelet w/vegetables
Weight -- 8.6 ounces

Item -- Cheese Tortellini (J&M)
Weight -- 8.9 ounces

For comparison the J&M retort pouch weighed 0.4 ounces.

Cheese Tortellini (8.9 ounces - 0.4 ounces = 8.5 ounces)

Good stuff, jfko6! In that last picture, I didn't see any nutrutional info - was that the right pic? Did you get any pictures of the actual food? And while I'm peppering you with questions, how much did you end up paying for the rations?

227 grams = 8.1 Oz, so 1/2 a pound. College taught me all sorts of useful things.

Big Mark:

Thanks for the conversion and those numbers appeared the same on both labels: MRE & J&M ration.

But I didn't see you make the connection that the numbers listed on the nutritional chart didn't jive with actual weights.

Taste Test

Post by jfko6 »

The food is no doubt consists of quality protein with proper portions of carbs to give you the right balance of energy throughout the day. Compared to the Hormel Complete meals the taste test far exceeds anything I've tried so far.
Where else can you get lamb? I'll be ordering more of these in the near future.

You didn't miss the nutritional pic. You missed the "edited" notation afterwards. Still not finished with the posting. M(O)RE to come.
