I tried some of these and can say well... they're pretty good, easy, and handy especially if you're on the move.
My preference is boiling and after about 10 minutes it's done. In water the tray cooks evenly and returns nice and HOT. You can throw several in a big pot of water which is more than a microwave can handle. The whole family can enjoy these in 10 minutes.
Some go well with rye bread.
The plastic covering isn't easily pulled back. Trays labeled with an indelible marker will make them easy to identify after they go into the pot.
I poke little holes in the top with my Old Hickory ice pick from Ontario Knife Co. if I decide to microwave the tray.

Hormel got it right with these, about "10 years ago". These are essentially mre entrees/starch side included, in a different kind of packaging. You can eat these "Cold", like me. However, I like to nuke them for a minute. My favorite is Turkey/Dressing. Heck, you can get them for $1.19 if you look around.
Hey guys - I just put up a new web page about the Hormel Compleats:
http://www.mreinfo.com/reviews/civilian ... leats.html
I also have pictures for five separate reviews but I'm getting too tired to put them up tonight so they'll have to wait until tomorrow. Until there, here are some pics:
Chicken & Dumplings

Chicken & Rice

Chili 'n Mac

Chili 'n Penne

Chili 'n Spuds

These are truly VERY tasty! But my local Super Wal Mart sells them for $2.00 each (so yeah, give it up `Dangerous where you're getting them so cheap!

Do you have Big Lots stores near you?? I have gotten them there fro $.99 to $1.29 a meal. It depends on the type. You might want to check them out. They had some last time I was in there. I got 6 or 10. I forget what flavor. I'd have to go look in the pantry.
