mremountaineu.com (Package received finally)

Post by NorwegianboyEE »

The site used to be reliable and i had no problems with it for a long time, however now the site has a new owner and i have ordered 4 MRE's about 2 weeks ago, sent a message asking for news about the shipment and they've ghosted me.

Do not buy from this site anymore, it looks very sketchy right now and i am worried that i just spent a lot of money for nothing.

I will update here if i get a response from them about the package, but i would just like to warn any potential buyers not to trust this site for now.

EDIT: I received a mail from one of the people that used to work for the site basically confirming that the new owner is unreliable/untrustworthy. That's why i feel it is very likely i might have gotten scammed here.

UPDATE: I finally received the package about 6 months after placing the order. Very late, but everything was there.

Same thing happened to me back in July. I created a thread about this in Buy/Sell/Trade (July 20)
I placed an order with MRE Mountain and paid for express shipping, a week goes by and my order has not been shipped.
I sent email messages asking for an update but nobody replied. Two weeks later I finally got an auto generated email from the site saying my order was shipped.
I think you'll probably get your order eventually, just wait it out.

That's too bad, they used to be very reliable and popular. I have a couple of their stickers.
Thanks for the warning, I don't think I'll buy anything from them anymore.

Btw just to be clear, this is the EU shop i am talking about. I know there is an original US-based Mremountain shop as well. I don't have anything to say about them as i've never bought from that.

Ahh shit, that makes sense. Good to see you've got your own site now though :).

Beware of scam

Post by Tedster »

This is where your Credit Card company can protect you. While I’ve no experience with Norwegian law, I suspect it is similar if not identical.

In the U.S.A., technically speaking, a credit card cannot be charged unless and until the item actually ships. They will “ping” an account for verification, or place a “hold” and that kind of thing. It’s a bit of a gray area, but for most people dealing with a reputable company there is no trouble waiting a few days, even if they haven’t really shipped.

In this instance you should have contacted your credit card company or bank and perform a “chargeback”. This will definitely get their attention, even where an e-mail will not. They stand to lose the ability to take payments.

You are protected through the terms of businesses doing business through banks & credit card firms and various banking regulations. This is one reason never to pay by cash, cheque or bank card directly, as recovery of those funds can be much more difficult.
