Importing Sopakco Civilian MREs into Canada

Post by Canuck67 »

Hello Everyone,

I'm looking to buy some Sopakco MREs and have been doing some shopping around. The easiest would be to buy a case from MealKit Supply here in Canada but I find their menu selection is somewhat limited and they are a bit pricey compared to some of the American distributors. Have any :D of you guys located in Canada found any better deals south of the border? What about shipping charges, duties, taxes: any problems or hassles encountered?

Meal kit Supply is the only place I've found in Canada although I've never bought any there. Ebay is probably your best bet but shipping costs are a bitch and if you can get the sender to mark them as a gift that should save you the duty. I recently got 2 boxes off ebay but they were not marked as gift and it cost me an extra $45,but I've got the before marked as a gift and didn't cost any extra, so thats the only difference I could see. Hope this has been helpful, let me know if you find any other options.

Yes shipping is the problem.

DO NOT USE UPS. UPS adds a brokerage fee. I've been stung to the tune of $50.00 on a $20.00 item.

I have had good luck using USPS ground for MRE's and such, from the USA to myself here in Canada.

Thanks for all the advice guys!
I guess it looks like Ebay is my best option at this point, although most of the MREs on EBay are military and I feel uncomfortalebuying them since thy say "U.S. Government Property, Commercial Resale Strictly Prohibited.

Yes, they SAY this, but there is NO law pertaining to sale/resale...
They're just trying to scare the uninformed !
