As Bastogne "Nuts Days" celebrations got canceled due to Covid restriction last year, we were too happy they started some smaller events this year again. No reenactment events, no public events just the museums were open and a small vehicles parade Sunday.
So I rent a house near to Foy (for those, who are familiar with Band of Brothers or WW2 history) for me and my friends to participate
We did some battle field tours to see their fox holes of Easy Company at Foy

Back at the house, we opened the T-18 "carrot cake w/ icing"
Lucky me, that carrot cake didn´t taste for "carrots" as I realy don´t like them but has a good cinnamon and ginger bread flavor
We toured the Bastogne area to see some "left overs" from 1944
A "German" Hetzer tank destroyer. (For nerds, that one is a past war Swiss made model. Note the thread at the barrel for the muzzle break. German WW2 Hetzer didn´t have these)

Touring all day, we needed a good, rich dinner so we opened the (3218) T-18 "beef stew"
added 2 lbs of pasta
makes a nice amount of food
...and way too much for us "just" seven ppls
That beef stew was 3128, so 8 years "old" and still perfect in shape and taste.
Found the display of tobacco products very striking. Have never smoked myself, so am always amazed at how much people smoked at that time. Am interested in containers, found the Lucky Strike round and flat cans notable.

Been a while since watching Band of Brothers. Always loved the Bastogne part - pretty sure that's when Wild Bill Gonorrhea gets hurt by a mortar shell. Was crazy that he lived until 2014. A pretty long life, actually.
That carrot cake sounds delicious. I'd had one, but parted with it. Had to let go of a few cakes. They're so high in sugar and one guy can only eat so much cake in a day.
The collection of tobacco is impressive.

Yeah, the museums around there and all the places around Bastogne & Foy are awesome, spent one weekend there doing some GORUCK events, need to go back one day
