Newbie cooking question.

Post by Tars » Sun May 01, 2005 11:55 am

Might seem like a silly question but...

In some of the MRE's you get two packs for the main meal i.e meatloaf and mashed potato. Should you cram both in the flameless heater or ...? Is there an artform to it?

Yes, you can put them both on a microwavable plate and then heat them in the microwave for about 1 minute and they come out great... :D

Hi Tars - welcome to the forums!

You can try to cram both the entree and the side into the heater but I'd worry about ripping the heater. What I do is put the entree in the heater, put the heater back into the entree box, and then cram the side into the box, too. It doesn't get as hot as the entree, but it gets hot enough for me.

Ahh thats a better idea. I didn't think both packs would fit in the heater. Stuffing it in the box should work though. The underside of the box always gets pretty damn hot so it should do the trick.

One entree and one side in one heater works for me. Two 8 oz entrees do not. However, Dirty Dave is correct about entrees coming out great in the microwave. That's why I go through the trouble of carrying a small microwave in my pack when I go hiking. Worth the weight for the time I save.

Okies I'm really not this retarded normally but I figured this would give you a laugh. In a moment of tired hungryness I thought I would try the microwave idea. I think perhaps though you should have mentioned clearly for us idiots "TAKE IT OUT OF THE PACKAGES FIRST".
