Can anyone tell me what USGI LRRP Rations are reasonably worth? I've recently seen a military collector's website and he had some listed at $25.00 each! Seems kind of high to me.....
The reason I ask is that I have 11 of the rations (dark brown plastic bag; made by Cadillac Products, Inc. of Sterling Heights, MI) that I'm considering a new home for. I obtained these in the mid 1980s and they have been stored well since (I ate one about a month ago --- still tasty!).
Thanks to anyone who can give me an idea as to what these gems are worth.
I don't know about "reasonably", but they're worth just about whatever someone on eBay will pay for them. And with some rations, that can be a whole lot of money (MCIs with cigarettes, for example).
I've seen the 1970s-era LRRP rations go for quite a bit on eBay before. I'm not sure about the 1980s versions but I'm betting they'd easily go for $10 each if not $20 or $30 by the time the auction is done. It just depends on who's looking for them and if they get into a bidding war.
I've had a surprising amount of interest in obtaining these LRRPs --- So much so that I may have to "ration" them out to those of you collectors who have PM'd me. I will be contacting the first group of you over the next couple of days. Thank you for your interest!
Kman & madcap: Thank you very much for your input; I truely appreciate your help (fantastic site you have here by the way Kman!). I'm not really interested at making a killing on these things, I'd much rather see collectors get them for their collections in the interest of preserving what historical value they have (who would have thought?). Damn, I was eating history 25 years ago!. Burp!
