I'll let dverkamp answer for himself, but from what I've seen, the Clam Chowder is included with the Pork Rib MRE. The Pork Rib entree is a measley 4 oz. so I've always looked at Pork Rib/Clam Chowder as combined together to make one decent entree.
So it's not really a side but not really an entree...more like a half-entree.
But either way (and no matter how much it weighs), whoever makes it (Ameriqual/Sopakco/Wornick) probably charges entree prices for it.

That's one I never quite understood. Somehow the combination of the McRib and the Chowder just sounded like an odd combination.

You are correct Kman. We have to pay suppliers entree price for the clam chowder even though it is only 5oz. Same goes for the pork rib and beef patty (both smaller than 8oz).

It looks like the entree prices for Darren's sale is $28 for 12 entrees. That's not a bad deal seeing as it includes shipping. A while back at warrifles.com, they had a "group buy" with Long Life Food for entrees. The price for that buy was $54 per case of 24. So this pricing is practically the same but you can just buy it yourself instead of waiting 1 or 2 weeks for the group buy to close, then sending in your payment, then waiting for all the stuff to ship.
I'm not knocking the group buys, but if you can get the same prices the normal internet-way, even better.
