Why do you eat?
Why do you eat?
So why does everyone here eat MREs? There are certainly better tasting food habits even if some MREs are okay tasting. What is the appeal for you?
Re: Why do you eat?
Someone suggested a year and a half ago, watch this Asian girl eat food. I said, that's pretty weird. Emmy was my gateway drug to Steve and the rest is history. It's a hobby that throws people off big time at a party. Beats talking sports!
Re: Why do you eat?
Some of us were in the military and ate rations regularly. So for us there's a nostalgia element.
I use rations as lunch when I'm fishing. A hot meal aboard a boat is a luxury, doubly so when the boat is a small kayak.

Re: Why do you eat?
I personally eat them because I like trying new foods and food from other countries...
For me geting a ration from somewhere else is pretty much like going to a restaurant...
I also always have arround Spanish combat rations just in case I might need some food to go...
You need to eat sometimes at work? You can get a sandwich somewhere or you can have a couple rations in your locker...
I also got into rations when I was a little kid, the army made some activities for children a d they would give you at the end a soldier diploma with your picture and a ration, I would go every year until they stopped doing it... It was really fun... Also a friend of my mother who was with the paratroopers used to bring some from time to time, as a kid that was super interesting... I think he retired some time ago after reaching the rank of "General de Brigada", quite a guy, super jolly... I wanted to ask him to convince my mother to let me parachute but he often quoted the phrase that "humans don't fly for a reason..."

I have Spanish rations permanently, feel free to ask

Re: Why do you eat?
The reason i eat rations is very similar to Carlos answer, i also am very interested what kind of foods other countries have.
Also i am intrigued by "Convenience food", and rations are the ultimate convenience food, storing for decades and tasting great still.

Re: Why do you eat?
I'm most interested in the examination of what individual countries around the world deem to be "good enough" to give to their troops. Some countries put a lot of care and quality into what they issue, others not so much.
In the immortal words of President Harrison Ford, Air Force One: Peace is not the absence of war... it is the presence of justice.
Re: Why do you eat?
The food is tasty and I'm interested in the process of menu creation. From the nutritional aspect to the variety, I find it somewhat exciting.

Re: Why do you eat?
I do it just like Carlos. Curiosity is the key. Sometimes I reconsturct a MRE dish in my kitchen (e.g. Madrid stew)
Not always you'll find a good flavor, it is not super healthy either. But it is addictive.
