In search of Coffee instant type 1

this is surprising! I didn't expect something like that... Those cotton-like structures, those are surely not caused by cistalization... Could be fungi but it's uncommon for fungi to grow in such dry conditions...

That first pic I posted was of packet that had been shaken before opening, so I opened up a couple more with as little disruption as possible. Sorry, best I do do with my tablet, I'll get out the camera later a get some better pics.
These are all from the same case of 2004 MREs that have been stored in a cool dry location since 2007. I have recently eaten some of these, and other than some bad raisins and peanut butter M&Ms, everything else has been fine.

This definetly looks more like a fuzzy mycelium rather than some cristallization spikes

The colombian workers knocked some of the "other" product they were packaging also by accident into the batch of coffee grounds..lol
