Man, both of you guys haven't had Coffee, Instant, Type 1 yet?

Ah geez.

Both you guys give me a PM and provide me your address I'll hook you both up with a Type 1 and a couple P-38's.

Here's where I'm at with the "Coffee Instants of the World"

I have one I got out of a Russian ration, doesn't seem to match any of the ones you have there. It's all yours if you want it. I'll get a picture asap.
Tried - British 24hr ORP, Polish S-RG-5, Russian 24hr Ration
Currently eating - French RCIR

That's a cool collection, Workman. Thanks for sharing! I see some beloved Taster's Choice missing! Would you be interested in the following? Please PM me your address.

In fact, if anyone here has an instant coffee collection, please post a picture and share it with us. Then I will go through my collection and contribute anything you don't have. I don't have much outside of US rations, but I'm sure I can find something.
Hey SentientTootsieRoll,

I've been trying to get my hands on one of those red sachet TastersChoice in the hopes that it contains the white film on the crystals. I plan to bring it into my lab at work and investigate what the white material might be (is it mold or is it a blooming inherent ingredient). I plan to post those results here in the forum.

That's a pretty neat idea and one I'd like to help you with. Can you PM me your address? I like science so I will happily send you a few. :)

That idea is super interesting! I would love to see what it is too! My bet is on some kind of bloom since it looks like it's that common... Molding on a dried product without moisture going in is unlikely but I'd love to see if it was a mold what kind it is... Anyone has a picture? Maybe from a close up we can already tell a bit...

Nice. I like seeing that there are other curious minds out there. I'm not a mycologist, but I am a chemist/microscopist that specializes in vibrational spectroscopy. I've got some neat and expensive toys with which I can get a good insight on this material. Unfortunately, accurate speciation is much more difficult and requires equipment which I don't have; but, the question "is it mold or not" I can certainly answer. And, if it isn't mold, I may be able to determine what it might be.

Well I did not expect this thread to be as beneficial as it has become. Thank you all for responses and I think we all now are awaiting some lab responses on coffee! Quite the experiment for sure. Thank you to all the contributors to this thread!

You could make a agar plate at home and separate colonies to see how they look and identify more or less the family by the looks of the colony, there are a couple of guides out there for that...
