Norstaal Norway Military Utensils

Post by MSSGMIKE » Sun Apr 29, 2018 8:43 pm

I found a few sets of these military fork spoon and knife sets at an auction and wanted to see if anyone knew what they would be worth, I’m keeping one for sure and possibly selling the rest.

I've seen those for sale here in Sweden, but can't remember the price. And not sure if it would be applicable since this is the country of origin.

The info I can gather is that they were not ordered in any large quantity. More on a trial to be examined for quality. The most common brand for Swedish mess kits and utensils are "Gense". Which were founded in 1856 in Eskilstuna, Sweden, and are the oldest still existing stock marketed company in Sweden.

Side note:
Almost all Swedish military equipment is stamped or painted with the three crowns, indicating that they are standardized and given and "M" number. "M" numbers are used to categorize and catalog equipment, I'm sure there are similar systems in use by other nations. There are equipment not stamped or painted with the three crowns symbol, which could be things that have been purchased on a trial basis, small quantity, perishable things like food or vehicle liquids etc etc. So in other words a three crown symbol is a definitive proof of Swedish origin :)

This might have been a little more info than you asked for :P
Have access to several different Swedish rations.

Looking for:
Italian, Canadian, Spanish, Japanese and any from south america.

Interesting to see the utensil holster on the spoon like that. From most the ones I have and have seen the knife is usually the place for them. I currently use a German mess kit and it has the "holster" on the can opener.

The soup spoon is almost too big to fit in my mouth however...

Items from the Norwegian Army is most often marked with an N inside a shield, I’ve never seen them with the three crowns.

These are probably manufactured in Norway but meant for Sweden. How old do you think they are?
