1977 Combat Meals Interest
Re: 1977 Combat Meals Interest
Guys here is what I think is a typical MCI opened up. Looks to me that the fruit can has a slow leak and I believe all of the 12 have this leak. Most everything else is in good shape exception being the cheese can shown here seems to be seeping.
Just want to be sure you know what is in the ones I have.

Shipping Help: 1977 Combat Meals Interest
Guys help me out here.
I looked up shipping on these things individually and the best I can find is USPS medium box for like almost 13 bucks, UPS for around 16 bucks.
What is the best way to ship these?
I don't want to make the cost so expensive that it makes the total price unreasonable for members.
Some ideas would be helpful. The USPS flat rate envelope is pretty large but with a ration close to 2 pounds I am afraid it would get destroyed getting to you.
Thanks for the help and as soon as I can find a way to ship these for members that isn't so expensive I will figure out what I should ask which will be reasonable, I just want them in the hands of those that want them...

Re: Shipping Help: 1977 Combat Meals Interest
I can speak for myself, but most of the time shipping is no big deal, and most of the time I can pay for shipping. Price wise I have sent small flat rate boxes for 6 bucks. Also if you look up "usps flat rate box prices" they should give you a pretty accurate reading.fun2drive wrote:Guys help me out here.

Are they for sale individually?
Are you in the US?

Re: 1977 Combat Meals Interest
The MCI's are individual as most members want them for display to to do a video like those of other members.
I have found no shipping box so far that is less than 12-13 bucks and that is a medium box from the USPS. I plan to visit my local USPS office and grab a couple boxes since they are free which will help me figure out what fits what doesn't.
Hope to have a solution by early next week.
Keep the shipping ideas coming guys...

Re: 1977 Combat Meals Interest
I think I found a good solution for shipping these MCI's after visiting the USPS office. They have a padded envelope that if it fits it shipping for $7.90. That is the best I am going to do. I will wrap each MCI with shrink wrap to protect the box from opening and give it more security.
I don't have a multi MCI solution because their larger box is about the same as shipping the MCI's individually.
I am going to ask $10 bucks plus the $7.90 shipping which is the best I can do.
Will post pictures of what this looks like going through each stage of shipping.
For those that need the dimensions they are 6" x 5" x 3" weight is a guess but 1 1.2 to 2 pounds.

OK it looks like this works pretty well. For those members who want to ship individual MCI's this might be a good solution.
See the pics.
I have all 11 that are complete and one number 12 missing the meat.
I will go check my PMs and make sure I honor anyone that contacted me first to see if they are still interested.
I can do Paypal but best to PM and not clutter the forum with these details.

Re: 1977 Combat Meals Interest
I would be interested in reviewing one on my channel if they are not too cost prohibitive. Let me know if there are any left.
The first to bring you the MRE pizza stone.

Shawker:
Should not be a problem. Would love to see a review of these. I have followed a few of our members doing reviews and Steve on his channel too. Where are you located that helps me to determine shipping.
As an update to other members shipping these things internationally. I stopped in the USPS and asked how to ship them the cheapest way possible. I was told to use my own packaging (4 pounds) and request Priority Mail. I was told this is cheaper than using their boxes and also you will need to fill out a Custom's Form when you ship so be sure to stop in ahead of time and get those forms. I just lucked out since I was there to inquire about shipping and was given the forms...
