Italian MRE's

Post by ElChapo » Tue Jan 23, 2018 11:58 am

Why are Italian MRE's difficult/expensive to get? (By "Italian MRE" I mean "ITALIAN Armed Forces 24 Hour Combat Ration" of course). Is it simply supply and demand or is there some sort of export limitation?

Mostly it's supply and demand. Few produced in excess find their way into the civilian market.

Additionally, there's increased demand for the B and F modules, as they contain a shot of cordial liquor, which some view as a pretty cool novelty.

Bummer. But there arn't too meny available? Yeah B and F have the alcohol in them. But on the whole world wide web and eBay, I only found x4 forsale, and they were expired. How much do yall see them going for? I have seen $99 minimum to $240 for a B or F. Pretty much should I have my friend Matteo ship me some MRE's and be pretty much printing money? Or do the italian MRE's cost $99 to buy in Italy?

MRE Mountain's is in date:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/ITALIAN-Armed- ... 2046!US!-1

At least, the one I got from there was, about 5 months ago.

Also, the ones from "apocalypsefabio" appear to be in date:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Rare-italian-m ... SwzRlaS9Zy
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Rare-italian-m ... Sw9V1aXaUE
https://www.ebay.com/itm/3-RATIONS-Rare ... SwXzNaVvkZ

Contact the seller, if you're unsure. The $200+ ones are those B and F modules most likely.

They are that expensive because Italian post charges an arm and a Leg to ship overseas

40 euro / 20kg, 45 euro/ 30kg to Croatia

44 euro / 20 kg, 46 euro / 30kg to Germany

Let's say you get 10 rations to your place and that's 265 euro, total. Price of one in USA is somewhere around €180. How much Italian PO charges for package sent to USA under 3kg?

Honestly, Italian rations are not that good.... They are more of a cool thing to try just once!

The Carabinieri Modules are NOT the same. They don't have stoves in any module or cordial in the B and F modules. There's a few other differences as well.

The Carabinieri has special rations produced for their unit, since they often are based in cities near embassies etc. They have an airborne unit, but they all appear to use the same ration which is NOT the same as the rest of the Italian military.

To my knowledge I'm the only one with in date Italians.

The reason they are so expensive is because they are in turn, rare and expensive both to obtain and ship here.

Usually a B and F goes for $200+, Any other module can range from $80 to $130 depending on freshness and condition.
