Storm Ophelia supper

Post by Conrad » Tue Oct 17, 2017 6:29 am

Yesterday we had a powerful storm in Ireland which resulted in power, water, phone lines etc being down. Nowhere near as severe as storms the US has got recently or in other countries but record winds for this country anyway.

However, I could at least rely on my supply of rations so I'd be fed.
Had a supper of polish Bigos, crispbreads, two "special crackers" and some honey from an S RG 1 ration.
I'll be eating rations for the next few days until power is restored but I've got plenty of rations and water so no worries.
A lot of people over here don't prepare for anything at all so they're left badly compromised. It's a great relief knowing there are supplies to fall back on.

The only regrettable thing for me is that I hadn't replaced my big generator yet, but I don't really need it badly and a small one outside kept the freezer going.

Anyway,
Here's my tasty supper I had. The bigos is very tasty with lots of large chunks of sausage. It's hard to describe the flavour of it but it's quite a unique one.
Despite nearing their best before date the crispbreads were crispy and tasty. The special crackers were as hard as usual and they tasted great with the delicious honey.
These polish 24 hour rations have great hearty food in them and plenty of it.
Lots of useful things too like the pack of disposable cups, very good foldable stove with a lot of fuel and many snacks

Aa prepared as I needed to be. It wasn't very extreme for me.
So far I know that 3 people were killed. Not a high number compared to some storms and events but still tragic

Last month there was a hurricane ripping through Florida. It was a comfort and time passer enjoying some rations with the power being out.
Glad ya got outta your storm unscathed! :)

Thanks Steve. Yeah I heard about that event and even watched some of it online. Much worse than we had here
