i wonder how well mentos fair in cold/humid/hot/freezing temperatures. they would most likely be rock hard in cold(try dropping a mentos into a glass of cool water and one keep out. after about 5 seconds, the one in the glass is rock hard. try chewing each one.)
if an mre looks edible, and smells edible, it's most likely not edible.

the mentos are only for summer rations, the candy in the arctic ration
are more soft. the withw tube on the dutch arctic pictures i have taken
are dextrose tablets, very sweet candy with vitamin c in it.
