I will be reviewing this exact menu very soon. I remember eating these when they were fresh and you couldn't go wrong with the Ham Slice.
The first to bring you the MRE pizza stone.

I would assume that in its prime, it was a great meal. I don't know about those potatoes though, but the ham wasn't that bad, and that chocolate covered brownie was pretty good! I bet that was amazing when it was in date.shawker71 wrote:I will be reviewing this exact menu very soon. I remember eating these when they were fresh and you couldn't go wrong with the Ham Slice.

Re: US MRE 1991 Menu 8 Ham Slice
The best part about this menu in its day was that at least you knew exactly what you were getting, basically the same slice of ham that the average grocery store sold, albeit smaller.
I used to squirrel these entrees away for combining with other things later.
About a year ago I found one, buried deep in a bag I hadn't used in years, subject to unknown but certainly wild fluctuations in temperature. I heated it up in boiling water and sat down and opened the foil pack...
It was still pink in the middle, but the outer edges were grey and flaking like tuna. That's the best way I can describe it. I took a sniff and it smelled like meat that was starting to go bad, so it went right in the trash. I wasn't going to risk even the smallest taste.

I loved that ham slice so much! They had a great salty taste.

Oh no. Glad you didn't take the chance, that didn't sound too great.Travelowl wrote:It was still pink in the middle, but the outer edges were grey and flaking like tuna. That it did! It looks very unappealing, but I was quite surprised by how good it tasted for being so old.housil wrote:I loved that ham slice so much! They had a great salty taste.
