I went picking Sloes today in preparation for making sloe gin and took this polish SR-6 out with me.
It contained:
-main meal Bigos with kielbasa
-Chicken and pork "luncheon meat"/ " spam"
-2 packs of polish crackers
-strawberry jam
-berry energy bar
-lemon tea drink
-flameless ration heater (terrible)
-accessory back with wipe, tissue, bag, coffee sweet, fruit sweet etc.
-straw
-spoon with tissue.
Firstly I must say that I have tried two polish SR rations this weekend , they come with the newer type single pad heaters. Both heaters have failed me out of these two.
Luckily the first meal I was at home for on Friday night and used my cooker to boil the tray in a pot and today I had a small pot, 2l bottle of water and a spare French folding esbit stove and tablets in my jacket pocket (I keep it deliberately along with a "survival tin" and a fire tin).
After that initial disaster I decided to just eat the crackers and jam first. The crackers... Well I've had them many times now. They're super hard but I like the taste. The jam was nice, a delicate light taste.
Then I drank the lemon tea, very refreshing. I put it in a jar so it could be easily seen.
Chicken and pork meat tin next. I used two of the crackers with this as it's a bit boring on its own. Seems reasonable quality but I prefer the pork only version.
Finally the bigos was ready. As is usual for the polish rations it was a generous portion and very tasty with many pieces of kielbasa sausage.
For desert I ate the energy bar. It was tasty and easy to eat.
Over all this was a hearty and good quality ration but it was let down slightly by the heater. After about 25 minutes this one started to get warm-ish but I'd already used another method.
For anyone who has not tried these, I recommend that you do, just from my small experience so far I'd say have a backup heating plan.

Re: Polish SR-6
It was a nice meal, sitting in the afternoon sun on a peaceful bank after picking enough sloes for a couple of bottles. Picked a few more then went home.
I know it's not a very shiny polished review but just a little snapshot of a genuine situation where I brought a ration out with me to eat.
I probably won't be doing a review twice or 3 times in a weekend much, due to health reasons/ trying to get in a bit better shape but I'll still do some when I can.

I'm not in too bad condition man but thanks. I've just recently started to try to look after myself better and I've got to watch my blood pressure being a big guy and having family history with issue with that but I was recently told I'm going the tight way when I went back to the doctor. Just need to take more care, I'm not in my 20s and "indestructible" anymorealohakid wrote:Conrad - You're on a roll my friend... love the outdoor reviews, thanks you for sharing at less than 100% health... recover fully my friend.
