I eat them, why collect? Russia sucks, and everything about the old Soviet Union, sucks. Don't hold your breath on busting these out. They don't last long, either.

After the Chicken and the Egg, came the "Omelet"!

They're part of my rotating collection of military rations, every time I eat one I try to replace it with one or two more. I have a decent collection from various parts of the globe. The Russian IRPs are decent, taste wise they are good and the amount of items you get is excellent. The listed shelf life on the outside of the package is for the crackers only, the other items usually have a best by date about a year later.

As far as I know the newer ones still do. The ones I have were manufactured in November of 2016. Unfortunately alot of sellers pass off the fsb ration as the mountain ration. They look identical except the mountain rations are slightly bigger. On the inside the fsb ration contains identical items to the standard IRP and mountain rations have retort packs like US mres and contains alot more items.alohakid wrote:TechManDan - Nice collection, congrats! Re: Yey my IRP collection is growing!
That is my understanding as well, the new ones do also. TechManDan is right, the two are very similar, but there are a few subtle ways to tell which one is the true mountain ration, and which one is a basic IRP in green packaging. One way is to look at the numbers towards the bottom of the label. Even not being able to read Cyrillic, you should be able to find the space for the calorie amount. The basic IRP will be in the 3,000's, whereas the mountain ration will be over 5,000.

Thanks for the clarification lads.
TechManDan - One more stupid question: What's the name of the ration with star on it?
