Oh trust me, I'm keeping that FRED close, I've had someone try and snatch it already. I don't think I mentioned that I have made it an integral piece of my search and rescue gear, never know when you'll need it.

oktoberskyline - Thanks for the great pics & share. The Aussie spoon should be the official spoon for all MRE/rations... including the FRED... about the FRED, talk about difficulty finding one for sale... may have to buy a CR1M just to get one!

Good for you... it's a great diminutive multi-tool which should be included in everyone's carry tool kit and bug out back.

Thanks for reviewing this. Since it's hard to find a current menu listing anywhere I was able to put your review to good use by seeing the contents of this ration. I've tried a few foreign rations and the CR1M from Down Under currently stands as my absolute favorite. I also love that they still use cans of fruit and cheese, it reminds me of the C Ration. Adds a nice touch of variety as well! I only wish these rations weren't so darn expensive and hard to obtain otherwise I'd buying a ton of these!

As I'm a believer of the free enterprise system (or what the market will bear)... would love to get my mitts on a CR1M (Fred)... sadly, current prices are out of reach of this retirees wallet.

Trying to get one for anything under $100 will require the greatest explorer in the world! Not to mention how hard they are to come by. There's currently a listing on eBay for $105 coming directly from Australia. Not a bad deal if I do say so myself. There's 4 available so it'll be interesting to see how quickly they get bought up. I'm really surprised no one has snached then up yet. I would have, but you had too many other rations on sale that I haven't tried yet so I had to get those first. It was definitely a hard choice!
