Canadian IMP Menu #20

Post by oktoberskyline » Sun Feb 12, 2017 9:45 pm

Yesterday I got my first order from BlackdogBob of Canadian IMP's, I got a Menu 20 and 10. The 21 interested me because its a salmon filet, something that you don't think of being able to be in a ration, and I was so excited about it I didn't take any pictures. The contents were interesting though, outside of the salmon, you got a spice pack to flavor it if you want, the rest of the contents were as follows:

Pineapple Tidbits
Sports Drink, Strawberry
Hamburger Bun, Plain
Honey
Peanut Butter
Vector energy bar
KitKat Chunky
Nescafe 3 in 1 drink
Frank's Redhot hot sauce
matches
wet wipe
drink bag
napkins

I boiled some water and plopped the salmon in for a few minutes, while I waited for that, I tried the Vector bar which had a pretty decent chocolate flavor. The peanut butter tasted a little smother then that in the US MRE and the honey was similar to the kind you could get of the shelf in the store. The addition of the hamburger bun reminded me of the wheat snack bread, but it could actually function to make a sandwich if wanted to, I made a honey and peanut butter sandwich. The strawberry sports drink I was weary of just because I've never been a fan of artificially flavored strawberry items, but it wasn't super bad and didn't leave an after taste like you might think. After I ate my PB&H bun, the salmon was ready, as soon as I opened it and the smell wafted out, my cat came over begging for some, so I dropped a piece in his bowl and he devoured it. I too ate mine with the flavor pack, which was a little spicy for my liking, but still didn't taste bad. I finished things off with the KitKat bar, I didn't eat the Pineapple or drink the Nescafe yet, but I'm sure those will be just fine too. The flavor was different, the fact that it was real fish was mind blowing also.

Thanks again to BlackDogBob for the quick turn shipping, I made another order with him and will throw up a review of those when I get them.

good job for the first review. Very detailed, loved the personal addition about the cat. Definately take pictures next time, we all enjoy voyeuristic sampling as well. ;)

Nice review, thanks for sharing. I really enjoy the Canadian IMPs. The quality of the meals is excellent . I have just purchased another case of IMPs from BlackDogBob and looking forward to doing some reviews in the next couple weeks...

Very well done. I could picture the cat popping his head up and come running hoping for a bite. Nice touch!
