What's up with that? I thought the only limitation on heaters (and matches) was that you could only ship them via ground - not air. Is this a new restriction?

Oh yes, these MREs feature those new clear plastic bags, must be to satisfy the new rules on hand-held baggage at the airport, no?!

Been away for a bit, It looks like a lot of the very new MREs do now come with a clear bag inside dont they, but this is surely DIY MRE at its worst! Also isnt the ommlette one hes selling surely very old? Still at least the prices are reasonable

Please correct me if I'm wrong guys, after all (and with no sense of irony) my favourite MRE of late is CCC and I just love MRE Shakes!! Its a Brit thing. Speaking of which, anyone in the EU got any good contacts on ebay.de that are reliable and cheap case-of-12 wise?

Six quids for a single MRE pack, that's not the cheapest one I've seen on eBay: I've buyed a full "A" case for €48 or £32, $60 (well it was a box of "old, normal" tan packs, with the infamous CCC

).

That's a 'civilian' mre, no side dish, no accessory pack, no heater, cheapo spoon etc. ~ 800 cal vice ~ 1300 calories for the 'Real Deal'

Well, I always think why start a new thread when theres an old one hanging around (feel free to mod my post if you disagree btw!).

So, anyway, I think that even before we are midway through the year, I win the prize for MRE ebay rip off of the year, or decade, no, CENTURY!!

A brown MRE spoon anyone? About $3? Plus postage...?

The funny thing is...if I didn't know any better (meaning I didn't know anything about MREs), after reading that auction, I would think it was for some kind of special hardened plastic spoon that was specially developed by the military. And for £1.49, that doesn't sound like a bad deal.

But as for that spoon...as much as I love those MRE spoons, I've found they aren't as durable as I once thought. I usually keep one in my kit when I'm travelling (and I've been travelling a lot). You just never know when you'll need a spoon. But I've found that after about 4-6 months of just sitting in my bag and getting occasional use, it gets brittle and the head eventually breaks off with just the slightest pressure.

Oh well...good thing I have at least 100 of those spoons.
