UK 12h menu 2 - chicken pasta with mushrooms (2015)

Post by Delicious » Mon Jan 02, 2017 1:06 pm

This is a smaller version of well known UK 24 ORP - for shorter missions - it is lighter, packed in a ziplock bag, what is more convenient to carry than a cardboard box.
More or less it corresponds to a standard US MRE, but it has more beverages. I'm not sure about the production date, the main dish has best before date in 2017. Thanks Scotsman1984 for getting this ration !

Here is the content:
- pasta with chicken and mushrooms in creamy sauce
- biscuit brown-s (wholegrain crackers)
- cheddar cheese spread
- barbecue roasted peanuts
- sesame snacks
- tea, instant coffee
- sugar, creamer
- lemon beverage concentrate
- raspberry beverage concentrate
- cherry electrolyte drink
- chewing gum
- spork
- disinfection wipes (4 large)
- water purification tablets
- flamesless ration heater
- ziplock bags

The crackers are really good - savory, crunchy with pleasant texture of wholegrain. Cheddar spread is a standard one (made in USA), for me a bit too salty.
The sesame snacks I liked very much - they remain me my childhood.

BBQ peanuts are a good snack - spicy, sweet, salty - but everything is mild, so don't worry you will not run in search of a gallon of water ;)

I tasted the coffee, which is not too strong , but it was really tasty combined with sugar and creamer. The cold beverages are world class - made in Germany - in my opinion the best in rations. They taste very natural. All in all the concentrates are base for over 1,2 liter of drinks.

The entree was a pleasant surprise - chunks of chicken, salty enough and the creamy gravy made a really good experience. The FRH from Beyound the beaten tracks was efficient enough to warm this 300g flexible can.

Wow, that main looks better than I thought it would. Cool item.

Great review, love pretty much everything I've ever had in a UK ration.

Have to agree with you on the beverage mixes. No question they're the best out there by far. The raspberry is perhaps my favourite... tastes like you just picked fresh raspberries.

I have been hesitant to try these because I love the 24hr ORP's but find it more cost effective to buy them vs. these rations, when you factor in shipping to the USA... They look really good though! I want to see the new Jungle rations the UK has been working on.
