but what means "Civvies"?!

Is this a (brit.) nickname for "civilians?!" And why is it spelled with a double "v"?!

They also add a new soup

The chicken soup they had before tasted and smelled like burned chicken bones. Not kidding...

they have used yorkie chocolate in the 1980 rations and
it was replaced with duncan bars and italian chocolate for some time until
they started use yorkie chocolate again from 2004.
the soup its not new style, they used it since 2000.
in hot clima rations there was no chocolate they had something called
kendal mint cake. this keeps the thirst away since chocolate contain
salt for flavor purpose.
other candy in 1980 rats was dextrose tabs with lemon or orange taste.

Housil,

Yes, "civvies" is a slang term for "civilians". The Yorkie Bar used to say "It's no for girls" but I guess they wanted to be polictically correct so they changed it to "civvies" (but still left the purse and woman icon in there as an FU). Here's a pic of the original logo/label:

We used to buy and carry the Kendal Mint Cakes on backpacking trips way back in the '70s.
Funny, I had just recently been wondering if they were still made. Suckahs would NEVER melt! Pure sugar and peppermint oil.
As I remember, they were sort of halfway between a candy bar and a hard candy. Good though.

I think I've mentioned this before, so my apologies. But just in case I'm wrong about my bad memory (

) we have a supermarket chain in my area called Stop and Shop, which has a European foods section that features AeroMilk, Lion, and Mars candy bars from the UK, but alas no Kendall Mint Cake. I'm wondering if the chocolate covered digestive biscuits are the same as what comes in the UK 24 hour rations or if any of these candy bars I mentioned also come in any variations of the UK rations? Also at the risk of going off topic here, the European foods section also has just about everything EXCEPT the German erbswurst!
