Portuguese Armed Forces -Individual Combat Ration-

Post by gundog4314 » Wed Oct 05, 2016 5:00 pm

The Ração individual de combate or Individual Combat Ration is designed for 24 hours. I've been looking for one one these for about a year when out of the blue a Portuguese Soldier offered to send me one of his field rations he didn't eat. Freakin' Awesome! So for all the forum to see Thanks Nuno! I will be doing a review on this and posting probably next week. Just a fyi there are two types this one that comes in a bag and one in a box. Here's a link for the "box type" right here on mreinfo from a 2012 pictorial:viewtopic.php?t=4772 The troops prefer the box as there is less breakage. Like the Estonian rations it is comprised of mostly off the shelf commercial items which is fine by me.

Well enough gabbing let's see some pics. I'll put the actual contents in the next post due to pic constraints.

When I saw the picture on your instagram I never thought this was a 24 hour ration! It looked like individual meal so this is a nice suprise. I must say the bag itself reminds me a lot of UN combat ration pack by colour, the print and size, beside that stove kit is exactly the same I had in my UN-CRP.

Can't wait to see the review.

That's awesome! I've been looking for these all over the web, found many of them, but sellers refuse to respond back.
They also have another version, in a carton box.

Nice pics! If I were a Portuguese soldier who got just one of these a day, I must say I would be a bit disappointed! The commercial cans kind of remind me of the main meals that come in Italian rations, not sure size wise though. I hope they are not as bland.....

That's pretty neat! Looks very delicious.
Good luck and may your rations stay unspoiled!

It looks like a good ration, but I assume the sardines are not boneless, don't know of any rations that have boneless sardines.
