2014 #8 Meatballs in Marinara Sauce

I did a nice bicycle tour today,

drove by a place where US bombs destroyed a river bridge (after 132 bombs were dropped)

and Mrs Housil isn´t at home anyways so I decided for dinner a 2014 #8 Meatballs in Marinara Sauce

Funny thing, the beverage bag was welded into the bags sealing

I like to warm up in hot/boiling water to get the best result and taste

To me, that menu was a great surprise with a superb taste! The meatballs had a nice texture, a great "meatballs" taste and the sauce was similar like a spaghetti sauce to me . Not hot/spicy
I remember the "au gratin" potatos from earlier days but these were the bigger surprise to me. They had also a nice texture and the "sauce" and "cheese" taste. I can highly recommend that menu!

Help me with this dish, how do you eat the Tortillas with this? Do you dip them in or do you fill the meatballs in them?

I find that the tortillas usually work better as a "pusher" than a wrapper. Roll one up and use it to help food into your spoon, then nibble the end of the tortilla roll along with the spoonful.

I like this meal as well. the meatballs are quite good, better than canned i think and a decent size.

And as for the bridge, I'm surprised that many bombs were dropped on that location. The article stated that they were lightweight but didn't specifically say what weight they were. My guess is that they were 250 lb bombs.

Yes, that one looks like a 250lbs bomb. We dug out over 170 unexploded of these of these at the WW2 Airfield I work next to. Anything from 40kgs up to 250kgs (500lbs) but also underwater bombs. They threw anything on us

They needed this much bombs as most of them didn´t hit the target. You know, US Airforce can hit any target - if it is big enough...

Were the bombs stored away or buried? I know that in Germany, France, Belgium, and Russia~ un-exploded ordnance from the first and second world wars tends to be an issue and some of these bombs could have been used to disable the airfield. But as you said "underwater bombs" (i guess torpedoes or mines or anti ship/submarine munitions?), so it would seem strange to bury these munitions or use them against an airfield. Plus the majority of the United State's naval air power was in the pacific and elsewhere. Then again, it was WWII, so improvising was a necessity in certain cases.

Neither nor, unexploded from air raids. This place was an airfield during WW2 (we had the ME262 over here ). The Airforce threw at least +7000 bombs on that airfield. Several missed it and hit the fields next to.

From that news show here (sry it´s in German):

a farmer had the EOD team on his field and they dug out 14 unexploded US "devices".

I was there too:

In the end, they (US) threw "anything left over" on us the EOD guy told me, also submarines hunting bombs that need a certain water pressure to explode...

I just ate my first MRE today, and it was menu 8 from 2012. The meatballs were really good. I didn't care for the strawberry-banana shake, it was really too sweet.
